New Turf for Civic Stadium


       According to an article published in the Bellingham Herald a week ago, Bellingham Parks Department is planning to replace the turf at Civic Stadium. 
       The turf was originally installed in 2000 and was designed to last 10 years.  Before artificial turf was installed, the field was natural grass.
       D.A. Hogan & Associates designed and oversaw the original transformation from grass to turf, which included creating and installing a new drainage system underneath the field.  This time around, the only change will be replacing the old artificial turf with a newer type.  The new turf’s estimated lifespan is 15 to 18 years.    
       Civic Stadium is used by both WWU and the Bellingham School District for sports events.
